This trip offers a perfect mix of culture and nature. Whilst we pass the historical region of Cacha, densely populated with communities, on a clear day we can observe Chimborazo, Tungurahua, Carihuairazo and the Altar. After cycling around the lake we arrive at Balbanera, a Catholic church of original Spanish architecture, the oldest in Ecuador and surely one of the oldest between Alaska and Patagonia. From here we can see the ruins of the old city of Riobamba which was destroyed by an earthquake in 1797.
