Abraspungo is the ideal place to be if your passion is horses and you would like to learn more about these beautiful animals and about the adrenalin packed and intensely emotional sport of polo, which combines the skill and ability of the rider with the power and docility of the horse. We offer the opportunity to enjoy polo classes throughout the whole year, surrounded by the wonderful landscapes of the central Ecuadorian Andes.
Programmes
The duration and cost of each programme will depend on the needs of each student or group of students.
Beginners
The beginner classes focus on the development of basic skills and working with the polo stick. In this half-day class you will learn how to sit yourself properly in the polo saddle, balance the polo stick and the rules of playing.
This class is appropriate for those who have no riding experience and for those who prefer to learn without pressure, in a non-competitive environment.
Intermediate
The intermediate student class is undertaken at a faster rate than the beginner’s class. In this class the student walks, trots and gallops with the horse and learns to be comfortable with hitting the polo stick on one side. This class focuses on the saddle for a faster step, hitting while the rider is moving and the development of a deeper understanding of the rules of the game of polo. The safety of the horse and rider are paramount.
